Choosing Heads

July 18, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

Many customizers decide to use non-POTF2 heads on their human customs to give them more variety.

Below is a list of figure lines with compatible heads arranged in order of increasing size. Of course individual figures within a line may vary (compare X-Wing Luke to Dengar), so the trend is general.

Although you may find some of the figures below in stores, the best place to find them is in thrift stores, flea markets or other secondary markets. It’s common to find figures from the ’70s in larger thrift stores (although newer figures are more common). If you can’t find the desired head odds are someone in the Forgotten Force will trade you (or in the case of rare figures, trade a cast) for one. supplies: No real “supplies” are needed besides the list of local thrift stores.

You may want to bring a few severed POTF2 heads for comparison. Memory may trick you into buying a head that won’t fit. steps:

Johnny Quest (1996) Really too small for POTF2. Many customizers use them for children…

Space1999 (1979) Again, really too small, but the old man (professor?) especially has great features.

Dragonheart (1996) Although Kara is well sized, the male’s heads of this line tend to be a BIT small. Some very good customs have been made using these heads where the size isn’t very noticeable.

Battlefield Earth Humans from this line match POTF2 heads well. These figures are cavemen, so they have scraggly beards. (Thanks to Tyler Pugmire)

Titan A.E. This line has slightly cartoonish features, but some fairly realistic, unique heads. (Thanks to Tyler Pugmire)

Star Trek: The Next Generation (1988 Galoob) Well sized, well detailed heads (”… and Patrick Stewart as Baron Fel!”)

Star Trek:TSFS 1984 ERTL. The humans character’s heads in this series are about the size of Galoob’s ST: TNG figures. Scotty even resembles Biggs. These heads will need repainting to match PotF2 figures. (Thanks to Will Burrows)

Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) Well sized.

Captain Power (1986) Good head size. All of these heads are wearing permanent helmets, they make good faces for rebel pilots…

Black Hole (1979) These figures have nice, realistic features…

Tonka (1977-79) Tonka made some racing figures, mostly with hats. good faces but bad eye painting.

Happy Meal Toys Although most kid’s meal toys have those freakish large “Disney eyes” some realistic faces in POTF2 scale DO exist. Of note: Prince Charming (Sleeping Beauty, McD) and Mary Jane Watson (Spiderman, 1995, McD)

Godzilla (1998) Well-made heads of several customs you can see on the net…

Jurassic Park III (2000) Excellent scale and detail on heads, good genreic adolescent boy, good genreic female, good likeness of William H. Macey and Sam Neil. Good unique head (Billy.) (Thanks to Sean Hoover.)

A-Team (1983) Edging towards large…

McFarlane’s Monsters (1998-99) The few humans in theses sets have heads that will do, but the are large.

GI-Joe (various years) More Joes’ have too-large heads than don’t (and some are even too SMALL), but many are very compatible with POTF2 figures. Exercise discretion.

Robotech (1985) Sort of large.

Battlestar Galactica (1978) Too big for most 3.75″ figures.

“Dollar Store” Figures (Various) Many figures from Dollar Tree, Big Lots, etc, have excellent heads for customs. Bodies disassemble easily with screws. (Thanks to Sean Hoover.)

GI-Joe knock-offs (various years, various brands) Using almost any one of these will give your custom a freakishly large head. Just say no!

Fisher Price Adventure People (1974) Using these heads will give you “Charlie Brown meets Star Wars” customs.

Lost In Space: (Trendmasters) Most heads in this line are too big. Will Robinson has a good head for a POTF2 child. by Jack Criddle

Mandalorian Language

Plunging into the deepest of mandalorian history, the dialect which is probably not used today, was formerly used by hundreds of thousands of people from Mandalore and in the Mandalorian troops. Although it has underwent some evolutions during the centuries, this dialect has lasted till recent time, a few years before the fall of the Republic.

Grammar:
1) Describing a Noun - [Adjective + "Small Adjective" + Other Adjectives and their small adjectives (Optional)] + [Noun + Article]
Example: Inya’osii ka’rta’tua
Meaning: Our one Fiery Heart
Structure: Inya corresponds to the adjective “fiery” thats describing the heart (ka’rta). Since theres one heart, osii is added onto the first adjective. If there were other adjectives they would be added on after that. Small adjectives consist primarily of quantity or color. Since the sentence speaks of “our heart”, the article is tacked onto “ka’rta” as it comes BEFORE the noun in syntax. If it became AFTER, then it would be added on before the word “ka”. Hence “Heart of our” would be rta’ka. Articles are always seperated by an apostrophe, and remember to take it literally in translation (Our Heart opposed to Heart of Our)
2) Direct Objects/Indirect Objects - [D.O.] + [Adjective + "Small Adjective"] + [Article + Noun] + [Subject + Verb] + [Indirect Object]
This is the basic of a complete sentence involving Direct and Indirect objects aside from other nouns or the subject and verb usage. Correct article usage and verb conjugation applies here. If for example your D.O. is Coruscant in the sentence “We, the wrath of Coruscant” in Mandalorian that would be “Coruscanta a’den mhi (katr’an)”. The Direct object is always placed first to show emphasis. The indirect object is always placed last. An article -only ever- comes after a noun, if and only if its a simple sentence or phrase. If it doesn’t have a verb, (hence its a phrase), an article can come after the noun. If it doesn’t have either a direct or indirect, or both objects then it comes after the noune. But if its a complete sentence, it comes before the noun.
3) Articles and Verbs - Articles do NOT get attached to verbs, only to nouns and the subject (if applicable)

PHRASES
“Aruetyc runi solus cet o’r” - “Every last traitorous soul shall kneel”

Solus obviously is soul..o’ir again is shall, cet most likely is kneel, and runi being traitorous. But Aruetyc…quite possibly is “Aruet”, “every”, whiile “last” is a tack on? But then why is o’r by itself this time? Perhaps it has to do something with Direct and Indirect Objects…*shivers*. For now though, “aruet” could mean “every”, while the words “yc” (last) and “o’r” (shall) are only tacked on if the subject is relating to them (in this sentence, the subject are the tratious souls)

And…

“Motir ca’tra nau tracinya” - “Those who stand before us light the night sky in flame”

Toughie. I believe we can get “Caar” (To light) and “Motir” (To Stand, our first “IR” verb) out of this. Nau may very well mean “before” with the us implied. Ca’tra is definately in another tense than i know of (most likely involves third person, informal…such as a “you all”So literally this sentence can be read as:

“To stand before us light the night sky in flame”
Those would be implied by the verb ending “tra”…as thats also the subject…but Tracinya and “the night sky in flame” is the biggest mystery of all. Could it be: Trac = Night Skiy, inya = in flame. With such words being compounded? (so in = in, flame = ya…but all together, they are compounded for a much more lucid word)

Mhi dralshy’an tracrah nau inyas! - “We Burn the night sky with our flames”

Mhi alabanz’an a’su, a ‘Almighty Nuna’! - “We praise him, the Almighty Nuna!”

[Adjective + Number] + [Noun + Article/Pronound(whatever you may call it)]

Inya’osii Ka’rta’tua - Inya is “flames, fire, fiery”…Osii is “one”…Ka’rta is “heart”…’tua is the the “our”….So far, this basic sentence structure really fits the lyrics… “Our one Fiery Heart”

“Nau vak’to, dralshye’raj” - Before I go, you will all burn.

“Ne, ne katr’to. Kadi” - No, I’m not. Goodbye.

Se Tras’ti sa! - I will own you.

“Aruetyc runi solus cet o’r” - means Every last traitorous soul shall kneel
“Aruetyc runi trattok’o” - means Every last traitorous soul shall fall

Mandálii kote, su’van ca’atrë! - Mandalorian glory, our strength unmatched!
Racin grualé’ra ktro’li bellitha’an - Stars will flee before our guns
su’varía, scévii la’duthlam - Our strength, forever mighty
cu’di’ra tavl’o kel’lum - will never tire of war

Te jédii Ru’vlo bellitha’rum - The Jedi break before us
calhava bru’chun dralshye’ran - Compassionate leaders will burn
an lev c’rtä sa’cluthan - as all who stand against we
Mandálii kote, Mandálii kel’lum - Mandalorian glory, Mandalorian might

e Mälacii Cu’trum rudale’ran gratr’ual - at Malacor IV will our enemies crumble
